He brought a little wooden cart. “If I load more, I can make fewer trips!”

He stacked pumpkins above the handles. He had to stand on tiptoe to see ahead.

Soon a wheel bumped a stone. Several pumpkins rolled onto the grass.

Luckily, nobody was in the way. Little Monkey stopped and gathered the pumpkins, his cheeks warm.

“They must have been untidy,” he thought. He stacked them high again, this time in neat rows.

At the bend, he turned the handles. A pumpkin slid from the top once more.

Little Monkey sat beside the path. “Am I simply no good at carrying things?”

Rabbit came to help without laughing. “Let's see what went wrong.”

They checked the wheels and walked around the cart. Monkey noticed it had no sideboards.

“A tall stack wobbles, and without sides the pumpkins can roll off,” Monkey said.

Rabbit pointed at the bend. “The path is uneven, and we need to turn slowly.”

Back at the farm, they asked Farmer Donkey to add sturdy sides to the cart.

This time, Monkey loaded just one low layer and helped Donkey secure it.

Before leaving, they checked the route and chose a smoother path with fewer stones.

Monkey pushed steadily, with Rabbit beside him. At the bend, they both slowed down.

This time, the pumpkins arrived safely. Monkey patted a sideboard and smiled.

They delivered the rest in several trips. It meant more walking, but no chasing fallen pumpkins.

A few days later, apples needed delivering. Monkey checked the wheels and sides before loading.

“How can we keep the apples steady?” he asked. His setback had become a lesson he could use.
