One morning, An'an and Dad reached the corner. A wailing sound rose: “Woo-oo, woo-oo!” “Why do fire trucks use sirens?” she asked.

One morning, An'an and Dad reached the corner. A wailing sound rose: “Woo-oo, woo-oo!” “Why do fire trucks use sirens?” she asked.

Dad held An'an's hand on the safe sidewalk. “We can watch, but we never chase a truck or block its way.”

The fire station gate opened and the red fire engine turned on its warning lights. The crew listened to dispatch, then checked their equipment.

The siren rises and falls so its sound can travel through traffic and around corners. It tells everyone that an emergency vehicle is coming.

The siren is not a reason to panic. Cars slow and move aside, a cyclist waits safely, and pedestrians wait for the green signal.

An'an spotted three little details: flashing lights, broad mirrors, and a warning device on the roof.

The driver checks a map and radio and chooses a route for the road conditions. The siren helps others notice the truck in time.

At the apartment block, a smoke alarm sounded. The firefighters checked the surroundings from outside before going in to inspect.

Steam from a pot in the kitchen had triggered the alarm, and no one was hurt. The crew aired the room and confirmed that the system was working again.

An'an noticed that hoses, nozzles, and tools were stored in separate compartments. The crew can reach them quickly when needed.

After the alarm was cleared, the fire engine switched off its siren and returned to the station at a careful pace. It uses the siren when people need a warning and a safe path.

Back at the corner, An'an drew a safety rule: hear a siren, stop in a safe place, look, and let professionals work. Then she wondered, “How does an ambulance save every minute?”

A siren warns people and asks for a safe path during an emergency. Staying calm, following signals, and leaving the work to professionals is the best help.
