新公园要做一个大沙坑。安安抱着小桶，站在参观区想：“这么多沙，用我的小桶要装到什么时候呀？”远处，一辆装载机开来了。

The new park needed a big sandpit. Holding her little pail in the visitor area, An'an wondered, “How long would this take with my bucket?” A wheel loader arrived.

新公园要做一个大沙坑。安安抱着小桶，站在参观区想：“这么多沙，用我的小桶要装到什么时候呀？”远处，一辆装载机开来了。

The new park needed a big sandpit. Holding her little pail in the visitor area, An'an wondered, “How long would this take with my bucket?” A wheel loader arrived.

它的铲斗宽宽的，像一只大簸箕。林工程师说：“今天它要把合适的沙子装上运输车，送去公园。”安安看看小桶，又看看大铲斗，笑了。

Its bucket was broad like a giant dustpan. “Today it will load suitable sand onto a truck for the park,” Lin said. An'an looked from her pail to the bucket and smiled.

沙堆不止一座！有粗石料，也有细沙。工作人员先核对材料，选好要送的那一堆。大铲斗再能干，也不能装错东西。

There was more than one pile: coarse stone and fine sand. Workers checked the materials and chose the right pile. Even a clever big bucket must collect the right thing.

开工前，司机检查轮胎和铲斗，还看看有没有人或东西挡路。四个大轮胎准备好了，铲斗慢慢降到合适的位置。

Before work, the driver checked the tires and bucket and made sure the route was clear. Four big tires were ready, and the bucket lowered into position.

铲斗贴近地面向前推，沙子涌了进来。安安在围栏外弯弯手掌：“先把沙子请进来！”沙堆留下一个小小的缺口。

The bucket pushed forward close to the ground, and sand rolled in. An'an curved her hand outside the fence. “Invite the sand in first!” A little hollow appeared in the pile.

接着，铲斗往后收一点，把沙子兜稳。司机没有堆出一座摇摇晃晃的沙山。装得合适，才不容易一路撒落。

Next, the bucket tilted back to hold the sand. The driver did not make a tall, wobbling mountain. A sensible load was less likely to spill along the way.

装载机倒着退开沙堆。提醒声响起，工作人员早已站到安全位置。妈妈说：“听见提醒，我们也留在围栏外，不往机器后面跑。”

The loader reversed away from the pile. A warning sounded, and workers were already in safe positions. “We stay outside the fence, away from the machine's rear,” Mom said.

转弯时，车身中间好像弯了弯。林工程师说：“这辆装载机用铰接转向，前后两部分改变夹角，帮助它转弯。”

As it turned, the middle of the loader seemed to bend. “This loader has articulated steering,” Lin said. “Its front and rear sections change angle to help it turn.”

运输车已经停稳。司机们确认位置，装载机才慢慢靠近。安安轻声喊：“大铲斗，轮到你抬高啦！”

The truck had stopped securely. The drivers confirmed their positions before the loader approached slowly. “Big bucket, time to rise!” An'an whispered.

长长的举升臂把铲斗抬过车厢边。哗啦啦，沙子倒进去，像一场小小的金色雨。车厢里没有人，附近也没有人伸手去接。

The lifting arms raised the bucket above the bed. Whoosh! Sand poured in like a little golden shower. Nobody was in the bed or reaching beneath the bucket.

第一斗落在前面，下一斗换个位置。沙子分布均匀，不能全挤在一边。安安把两只手摊平：“要让车厢站得稳稳的！”

The first scoop went toward the front; the next went elsewhere. The sand needed to be spread evenly, not piled on one side. An'an held out both hands. “Keep it balanced!”

还差一点，装载机却停下来。原来要先确认重量，不能因为车厢还有空，就一直加。安安点头：“不是装得越满越好。”

A little more seemed possible, but the loader stopped. The load had to be checked; empty space did not mean more could be added. “Fuller is not always better,” An'an nodded.

运输车盖好篷布，沿着安排好的路出发。装载机把铲斗放低，继续整理材料区。它们一个装，一个运，各有各的本领。

The truck covered its load and followed the planned route. The loader lowered its bucket and tidied the material area. One loaded, the other carried: each had its own skill.

过些日子，公园的沙坑开放了。安安挖了一条小河，还堆了一座小桥：“原来这些沙，是大铲斗一趟趟送来的！”

Later, the sandpit opened. An'an dug a tiny river and made a bridge. “These grains came here scoop by scoop in that big bucket!”

在家里，安安用小铲把大积木装进玩具车。你来猜：堆得高高的一铲，还是稳稳的一小铲，更容易不撒出来？妈妈在旁边陪着玩。

At home, Mom supervised as An'an scooped large blocks into a toy truck. Which would spill less: a towering scoop or a small, steady one?

安安给今天的动作编了儿歌：“铲进去，收回来；低低走，停稳抬；轻轻倒，慢慢来。”妈妈拍着节奏，大铲斗仿佛又开工啦！

An'an made a rhyme: “Scoop it in and tilt it back. Carry low along the track. Stop, lift, tip—and take it slow!” Mom clapped, and their pretend loader went to work again.

合适的工具、适量的装载和清楚的配合，让任务完成得又稳又好。
